Chapter One- David

I couldn't be more happy than to have a box of cookies of my very own, knowing I'm safe. I was so hungry from last night, that I anticipated to get the dishes done so I could receive the leftovers of my brother's cereal. I no sooner got my breakfast down, that I had to leave for school in a rush, knowing I was going to be late. I left my lunch in the car in a sprint to get to my class before the bell rang. I was so late, I had to report to the office and that's when it all began. The nurse takes me to her office and we run through a normal routine, when she notices the bump above my eye from where mother through me upon the counter this morning. The nurse wasn't happy with what she seen, and it was like suddenly everyone started talking and whispering, and some were even crying. I suddenly seen a police officer, and knew I had done something wrong. I begged and begged to not let them call my mother, but I had no choice. When I got to the police station, Officer Smith called my mother and told her that I wasn't coming home, and I suddenly felt a burden lift off my shoulders, and I knew I could smile for once in my life.
